May, 2012 - The Black Card VIP program at Full Tilt Poker started off as a simple but rewarding two tier loyalty program that was developed to compete with the VIP Club at Pokerstars. The original Blackcard program at Fulltilt Poker was very popular but came up short when compared to their arch-rivals VIP program. With this in mind they added two new tiers and new benefits.

The Black Card program is now one of the best poker VIP programs but I'll let you decide if it is the best of the best. This guide will cover every aspect of Full Tilt Poker's Black Card VIP program. Here are some links to our other Fulltilt Poker guides:
The first question many players ask is if you actually receive a card from FTP. You will indeed receive a card in the mail once you have become a Black Card member. This card is more for show but it does come with some benefits of it's own. There are three main levels to Fulltilt's VIP program:
The requirements for each VIP level at Full Tilt Poker may sound confusing but are actually quite simple. It is all based on 100 day rolling averages. Let's say you play at Fulltilt Poker once per week and earn about 4,200 FTP's each session. That would give you a rolling average of 600 FTPs per month. You can achieve the same rolling average by playing three days a week and earning 1,400 FTP's per session. The VIP tier requirements are based on 100 day rolling averages so it gives you much more flexibility than any other VIP program in the industry. Here are the requirements for each of FTP's Blackcard levels:
So to become a Blackcard member you need to earn 50,000 FTPs every 100 days. Full Tilt Poker rewards many more points per hand than some of the other big rooms incase that sounds like a lot to you. Micro-small stakes players are having little trouble with the minimum 500 point rolling average.
You can view your rolling average any time you want. It is built in to Full Tilt's software, as shown to the right. Once you reach one of the Black Card levels it is much easier to maintain it than it was to earn it. This is another area that Fulltilt Poker's loyalty program is better than the VIP Club at Pokerstars. If you fall below the 500 FTP rolling average you will have 50 days to built it back up, while receiving all of the benefits. This means that you can take a week or two off playing poker and come back and maintain your Blackcard membership with little effort.
If you reach the 1,500 or 3,000 point tier you will only have to earn a 500 point rolling average and you will continue to earn 3X or 4X the number of FTPs, as well as the other benefits. Basically, once you reach one of the higher tiers you will be able to maintain it indefinitely with little trouble.
The Full Tilt Points multipliers (2X, 3X and 4X) are the major benefits but there are several others. There are many "Black Card Member Only" tournaments and freerolls every month. These have large prize pools and you can use your FTP's to enter them. You will have plenty of FTP's to spare for these exclusive events since you will be earning points 200%, 300% or 400% faster. You will also receive Full Tilt's Carte Blanche service. This means that if you want something that is not available in the Black Card store Full Tilt will obtain it for you. The Blackcard store contains a wide range of items, see below for more info.
If you are not a Black Card holder at Full Tilt you can spend your points as you always have at their regular FTP store. Black Card members have a special store that contains exclusive items not found in Full Tilt Poker's regular VIP store. Here are some overviews for each category:
